Another layout 10-14-09

How about another page for Sock's album? (If you are new, Sock was hubby's dad. He passed away in 1983, and sad to say, neither the kiddos or I ever got to meet him. I am doing this album so my kids will not think of "grandpa" just as someone who died along time ago, but "know" him as a very important member of our family.)

I love this layout. It is a little different for me, just it when together so fast. I KNOW I will be using this idea again. (AND I will be doodling again!! This was the first time, and wow, it adds so much to the over all look. Very pleased. [and thrilled that I did not ruin my whole layout!!] LOL)

This house...

This is a 6x12 layout for Sock's Memorial Album. (Sock was my husband's father. He passed away in 1983, and I am doing a Memorial album so my children can learn about the life of their grandpa.)
Sock and Grandma were newlyweds trying to adjust to the married life when they bought this house in 1962. Grandma still lives in this house.

The title is taken from the poem hidden under the photo. You pull the ribbon tab to lift the photo to see the hidden journaling. (This will include the amount paid, etc.)
Here is the poem I found on 2peas:

Bless this home, Lord, And all who are within, Whether it be the love of a family Or the closeness of friends. Watch over this home, Lord, Come sunshine or rain, With the sounds of laughter To always remain. For within these walls Is a love so dear, That grows in strength From year to year, This home. . .Your blessing.

I am going to be very busy the next couple of weeks. Hunter has a DR appointment tomorrow- his pre-surgery check-up and then surgery on the 16th. Please remember him in prayer that all goes well.

Christmas 1966

I love the photos I borrowed from Grandma B. In that stack I found 3 pictures from 1966- Christmas. Looking at those pictures my mind begins to race- kind of like an old movie. I see a happy young couple, their son in brand new soft foot pajamas, enjoying his first "real" Christmas. A new baby boy sleeping all warm and cozy in the bassinet that is now in the living room. The Christmas tree decorated so lovingly, topped off with a layer of silver "icicles". Snow falling silently to the ground. Gifts wrapped and placed under the tree-providing temptation too great for an almost 2 year old.
A lot has changed since that Christmas long ago. The boys are grown now with children of their own. And Sock is no longer there to share in on the excitement. The decorations are more modern. The amount of presents has greatly increased. LOL

Some things are pretty much still the same- Hubby still finds presents much too tempting. Some times if we are lucky, we have snow for Christmas. The LOVE will always be there!!

This is an 8x8 lo for Sock's Memorial album. I think the funky, retro papers work perfect for this layout. And the Christmas Cheer Cricut cartridge has that 60's feel to it.

The title was cut with the Cricut, and the faux stitching was done with a pen. Two eyelets were added for the ornaments to "hang" from.

Ornaments hung with gold cording, and accented with just a bit of glitter.

Pop dots hold them in place.

The ribbon tab is held in place with an over-sized staple.

The tree was cut with Christmas Cheer, and pop dotted before being added to my layout.

This is another LO for one of my memorial albums. This is a picture of Sock and Mother-in-law taken on their Wedding day. Hubby was fortunate enough to go online and find a copy of their marriage license- how cool is that? Gotta love the high tech world we live in!!

(Sorry for the crooked picture. I really need to work on my photography skills. LOL)

The header details- Stamp set- Forever Family stamped in a Mauve color, pop dotted (and added to a cream color ribbon wrapped around the strip of designer paper), Circle elements punched with a 1" and 1.5" punches, and then accented with a few Dew Drops.

A couple more detailed shots- notice the arrow pointing from the word LOVE (also stamped with Forever Family) to the photo. The arrow and the vines were cut with the Cricut, as well as the scallop on the left edge of the Marriage License. A couple of layered, paper flowers with Dew Drop centers add the finishing touches.

Sock's school picture LO

Here is a LO for another Memorial album. I posted the picture of MY dad's title page. Well, this is a LO for my husband's dad's album. I am tandem scrapping memorial albums, call me crazy. (Oh, and to help keep them separated- My dad is Pops and hubby's dad is Sock.)

This is one of Sock's school pictures. Can you believe that Mother-in-law has every one of his grade cards from school? Every one!! That just blows me away. Something else that blows me away- Sock had perfect attendance for 10 YEARS!!

I love how this turned out. This is an 8x8 LO. I have ordered a 12x12 3 ring album so I can use a variety of LO sizes.

Grandma B- What do you think? Oh, and don't worry, I made a set of pictures for us to use. You will be getting your unharmed originals back- soon!! :-)
