Fair Food Layout

One of our favorite things about fairs is the food. Everything just tastes better at the fair! :-) Maybe the attractions of fair food is it is something you only have once or twice a year. In our family we each have our own favorites- Hailey loves corn dogs, Hunter likes the gigantic slices of cheese pizza, hubby like the funnel cakes and I would vote for the sausage sandwich with peppers and onions. We usually follow it down with an over sweetened lemonade.
Today's layout features some fair food. (Because hubby was a judge for the State fair we were always provided food in the Governor's building. Prime rib with all of the fixin's. LOL)
I used several Cricut cartridges on this one: Country Life, Baseball, Carousel, and Indie Arts.
Wow, hubby has lost almost 50 pounds since that picture was taken!!

Wild and Wooly Layout

A double page layout today....you guessed it from the Ohio State Fair 2008! LOL
My pictures today are from the petting zoo area. The kids enjoyed feeding the animals. Hunter was a little leery letting the camel eat from his hand but Hailey had no reservations! :-)

I love the tenderness Hunter is showing while petting the sheep. So sweet!
I used the Country Life Cricut cartridge again for my die cuts.

I have a little confession- the whole time I was working on this layout I was thinking that these were llamas. Once I finished my layout and looked at it yet again I realized these guys are camels!! LOL
The middle picture was popped up on pop dots.(I like doing this when it is a tight squeeze fitting my pictures into my space. This way I can slightly overlap my pictures and I don't have to trim them. It looks nice too.)
I love the sheep die cut on this page- it reminds me of the primitive sheep that I think are so cute!

I wonder what Hailey is thinking, and I wonder what the goat is thinking. :-)  I guess we will never know! LOL
Don't forget to see the photos larger you can click on them.

The Ohio State Fair Butter Cow Layout

Today I am sharing another layout featuring pictures from the Ohio State Fair - 2008. For several years we were able to enjoy opening day of the fair. Hubby was a crops judge, so he would spend a couple of hours working and then the rest of the day we enjoyed the sights, sounds and smells of the fair. One thing we always had to see was the Butter Cow. Yeah, until I moved to Columbus I didn't "get it" either. LOL
Don't forget you can click on the photos to see them larger.

On this layout I used some "antique" designer paper.  In other words- stuff I have had forever. :-)

If you click on this photo  you can learn more about the Butter Cow. 2008 was the year of "Mount Buckeye." Did you know that Ohio was home to 8 of our Nation's Presidents?
I will admit that while doing a little research on the Butter Cow I came up with way more information than I had expected. Thank you Google!! :-)

I used the Country Life ("Cow Country") the Gypsy Font ("Butter,") and Animal Kingdom (cows) Cricut cartridges. I used the Upper Crust border punch on the strip of green designer paper. The buttons are from Fancy Pants Designs, with a tiny bit of Baker's Twine tied in one. I added a few shaped brads and finished off the strip by using the Tiny Attacher on both sides.

Horsin' Around

My layout today is one I created for a challenge on a Facebook scrapbook group I belong to. The challenge is "Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue" we are very easy going and we are not too strict about the "guidelines." LOL
Once a challenge is posted we are free to use it as we like. So, here is my layout for this challenge-

We had a Bassett hound for a couple of months until we had to find her a new home in June 2008- she went to live with one of hubby's co-workers and his family. His daughter Tiffany had recently gotten a new horse and was more than happy to take Hailey for a ride. (Hunter was too afraid to ride, but not our baby girl!) Hailey loved riding the horse! She did not want to get off!

I used a NEW Cricut cartridge- Countery life for the title and the horse die cut. (I LOVE the way the newer cartridges layer- they can be done so much faster than the old style!)

The title, once I adhered it to my layout I wished I had cut the shadow for it, but, oh well. :-) I like the layered pharses on this cartridge.

I know, you are wondering what on earth, right? Well, this is the back of my layout. The white are is where I cut a square out of my base layer. I was then able to use this piece to make the mats for my photos and the letters that are layered, AND I still have a little left over. (I have said it before and I will say it again- I am stingy with my designer paper.!!LOL)
Something old- my designer paper (and the pictures)
Something new- Country Life Cricut cartridge
Something borrowed- The layered base idea (I usually use one paper as my base)
something blue- My title was cut in the blue color and then the red was layered over some of the letters
I am so happy I finally have these pictures on a Layout!! I am even more happy that I had index cards with the info tucked in with the pictures too.
Thanks for Stopping by!
