Are you ready for a New Year?

What are your goals for the New Year? Last New Years Eve my sister and I made a "Life List". I have only done a few things on my list this year- I ate Elk, and I rode in a helicopter. I also added TN to my list of states visited. My sister on the other hand got a good chunk of hers done. When we do one thing, it is replaced with something new.
I know this will sound silly- but I did not get enough of Christmas! LOL The creating part, that is. I still have several things on my list I didn't get finished in time for this year. MAYBE, if I start now I will be ready next year??

Here are a couple of the cards I made for Jessica's card tin this year.

All Images are from The Angel Company. The papers are some that I have been "saving" for something special. LOL

Quick sneak peek

Guess what came in the mail yesterday.......

the brand new TAC Inspiration Book. Oh my goodness, I have such a long wish list!! There are several sets that can be used for Faithbooking. And the new papers are so gorgeous!!! I can not wait for you to see everything!!

Ok, off to do some more drooling.

BTW- the new doggy is doing great, her and Hailey are bestest friends. Hunter has started calling her Belle, and I think I like that name better. :-)

Merry Christmas

One down two more to go. We had our Christmas celebration today with my family. The kids had a blast. I am so thankful everyone was healthy this year! My mom is finally getting her health back and is able to play with the kids. We all laughed so hard when "Grammy" climbed in the new tent and Hailey went crazy trying to beat her with a fishing pole. LOL I wish I would have had the video camera for that one. I would have won $10,000 with that one. For some reason Grammy wouldn't do a reenactment for us. LOL

My new 'puter is here and I am really liking it. It has been great to have it where I need it.

DH is loving his Christmas gift, and so is the rest of the family. She is a one year old Basset hound. This is Mabel. Even Lucy (our beagle) seems to have taken to here very well. I know Lucy is wondering why we needed a dog. (SHE thinks she is a kid.)LOL

I finished a card tin for a gift, I sent it on it's way and THEN remembered that I didn't get a picture of it. DUH!!! I guess I have Christmas brain! LOL

I hope you all have a very Blessed Christmas filled to overflowing with all those special people and things you love.
I would like to leave you with a small reminder- He came as a baby that slept in a manger so we could one day live in a Mansion!! Thank you Jesus for coming. Have YOU made room for Christ this holiday season?
God Bless,

Busy, busy, busy

I think things have kicked into high gear!! Do you feel as if you will not be ready for Christmas? I *think* I will be ready.....
Shopping- done
Handmade cards- done and sent, just need to deliver some to Church on Sunday
Cookies- well, I guess I should make some more- LOL (I think I have a cookie monster or 3!!)
Food for 3 dinners- all done except for DH's family. We are doing pizza, but I have a couple little things to go with it.
I still need to:
wrap gifts- (Did you know I was a professional gift wrapped before kids? Yep, I wrapped at Macy's.)
make tags
Get the house ready for company on Saturday and Monday.
BTW- My gift from DH is due to arrive today. DUDE, I am getting another Dell!! He got me a notebook, how cool is that? Now I can work where ever the kids are! I plan on taking it to FUNshops and running a Power Point of project ideas.
Well, I am off to stalk the DHL man!!! LOL

{sigh}, I THINK I finally got all of my Christmas cards finished. I now have two stacks to mail. Those I can drop in the box today, and those that need to go to the Post Office to be weighed. I really dread going to the PO, there is always a long line, and only one person working.

Here is one of my card creations that I passed on this year.

I am now thinking I should have used it. It is flat enough to not need extra postage, and very fast to finish. Maybe next year. This is the first year I used more than one design. I also used 4 different stamp sets from The Angel Company. There are even some EXTRA special cards going out this year. Hailey loves to color, so I let her color some to send. Hunter colored a couple, then moved on to his favorite Veggie Tales coloring book. LOL

Gotta run, I hear tiny foot steps.

Tuesday, December 11, 2007

Happy Tuesday!! It's raining AGAIN!! What is with all the rain? We have Christmas lights that need to be put up outside. (Hunter told daddy he wants lights on the roof. How funny!!) We drove through Picktown Lights on Sunday. There are 16 houses COMPLETELY decked out and all syncronized to music in 1 nearby neighborhood. I find it very hard to believe one guy controls almost all the Christmas lights on his street. He is very talented!!
The card above was my Breast Cancer Awareness card this year. Again, everything except for the ribbon is from The Angel Company.
Ok, gotta run, Hunter just came by sporting Hailey's new hat and mitttens. The hat is on his head and the mittens are on his FEET! That boy is so crazy! LOL

Blue Jay

Of all the cards I have made, HB likes this one the best. I must admit, I am pretty pleased with it myself. LOL All things of nature is the stamp set, colored with Prismacolor Pencils, sponged with Palette ink and I used Matchmakers cardstock. The sentiment is from Holiday liners- all from TAC.
( I need to remember to clear out my cookies more often. I have had trouble logging into Blogger since last week. YIKES!!! LOL)
I am still working on my Christmas cards- maybe I will have them done before New Years. LOL I finally narrowed my designs down to 4. Once they are in the mail I will share those with you.

December Happenings

Here are a couple of things from TAC for December.

Just a reminder about the Retiring Stamps, we only have a couple weeks left to order them before they are gone for good. Don't miss out on your favorites.

We are now in the midst of the Holiday season. Is your family as busy as ours? LOL And just think, my kiddos are little, just wait until they are school age- and all the activities that come with that. {YIKES!} Hunter is really getting into all the goings on this year. He loves the lights, the trees, and even humored us by sitting on Santa's lap. He did not trust the jolly, bearded elf until Santa mentioned Lightening McQueen. LOL

I made a Holiday planner to help me keep up this Christmas. The local scrapbook store (LSS) Pizazz it! scrapbooks, had a class, but I ended up just buying the kit. I really liked how it turned out. The papers are Bo Bunny.

It has a place for everything- menus, receipts, card lists, traditions, even calendar pages. The 9x9.5 pages are a very nice size to work with.

Quick and easy

Here is a very simple Christmas card. The penguin is from the Perky Penguin set from TAC. I love this set... wait until you see the others! Colored with Prismacolor pencils. And I used my only scallop punch. LOL Sickles gives it a little bling, bling.

I have been so busy- with the kids, the house, laundry, church, cards, and making a couple little things-that I need to get some good pictures of, because I know you are gonna like them.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!!!!

Next week

I am so excited about Thanksgiving!! I love that holiday!! I love time with family, football, and FOOD!! This will be the first year since we have been married that I won't be cooking the turkey dinner. We are headed to my mom's for the day. (This lady goes completely overboard on food!!LOL)
As a child we always headed to our grandparents for the weekend. This time of year memories always come flooding back. I really miss WV in the fall.
We know what happens on Friday morning also. SHOPPING- I have never done the early morning Black Friday shopping. I used to work retail, and I don't miss it a bit this time of year.
I am hoping to have all of my shopping done before next weekend.
We picked up the kids a table and chairs to go with their kitchen they got last year. TRU only had one set left with the green top, this years kitchen has the red "counter" tops, and all of the tables-except one of the displays had red. Hunter was so excited, when we got home daddy tried to tell him that Santa had to take it back to his work shop to get it all cleaned and ready for Christmas morning. He went and got a washcloth and told me he could clean the brand new table. Daddy again tried to tell him Santa would bring it back in a couple of weeks. Well, the lip started to quiver, and then the tears were streaming down his face. He looked so pitiful!! Mommy's heart broke! So, last night Hunter and Hailey had a blast playing with the new table and chairs- after Hunter cleaned it. LOL This will be the first year we will have to shop in shifts. LOL
I am going to leave you bargain hunters with a little link-Black Friday. Hope you all find tons of deals.

Adhesive run down

Can you believe I am out of adhesive? I am in the middle of 30 of the Create a card kits for kids and I am out of Tombow!!!
I'm asked a lot what my favorite adhesive is......
I think a better question is what DON'T I use. LOL I use a little bit of everything- except glue sticks. For some reason they never work for me, could it be the humidity here in Columbus?
I LOVE Tombow- the tape runner (Buy it by the case) and the Mono Multi. The Mono totally rocks!!! You use a very thin line and it will hold several layers of heavy card stock. It dries clear. It lasts a looong time.
The tape runner is quick and easy, but sometimes with layers of heavy (Bazzill or DCWV) cardstock they will pop loose. Covers a lot of area quickly.
The 2 way pens are excellent for my Quickutz die cuts. I can use them on those tiny little pieces. I have the broader flat tipped one and the ink pen tipped one.
Designer dries clear- I just started using this stuff- Love it too. Again, a little goes a looong way.
Glue dots, I like these for ribbon. (Not good in the carpet though- just ask Hunter.LOL)
Pop dots- for when you want the "pop" something off your page.
Stapler, I use it for ribbon and embellishments. Regular staples, colored, or the wider ones... they are all good.
E6000- just bought this one, I haven't got to play with it yet. I "plan" to make those cute jumbo paperclips.
Xyron- I only have the little one, so I have to cut down all the paper to use in it. It is also nice for die cuts. (Note to self- buy refill ASAP!!)
I would love to get my grubby mitts on one of those ATGs!!! Those look so cool, I have only heard good things about them.

Oopsie Daisy and Perky Penguins

This is a birthday card using the Oopsie Daisy stamp set from TAC. (I will be so sad to see it retire at the end of the year!!) I think it would also make a beautiful Christmas card. The cardstock is from the DCWV Brights stack. I colored the flowers with Prismacolor pencils and the colorless blender. I used a scallop punch and stickles to finish the card. I Love stickles- they come in may colors and they are the perfect way to add a little bling to your projects. I don't get as many stray sparkles all over me when I use the stickles. LOL

The next card I am sharing was from the Mystery swap the Mary hosted. She stamped off the images from TAC stamp sets and sent to everyone. We all started with the same image, but we each added our own twist. I think this was the most fun I had with a swap. Thank you Mary!!!

I got to play with 2 different images, one was from the Tickled pink set- a flamingo wearing a bikini- how funny! The other is a set I have had my eye on since the new catalogue came out. Perky penguins- even if you are not a penguin fan you will love these little guys.

Here is my Perky Penguin card- This one is the "prototype" LOL The ones I sent back were just slightly different. This is a Tent card, it measures 4.5x 4.5 (the light blue is actually the card base) and the image sticks above the top to make it a standard A2 card. I colored the image with Tombow Markers and the blender. The snow hills are torn paper and the edges were inked. (On the ones sent in I added stickles.) The whole image was inked up with Versamark and embossed with Holographic embossing powder. IRL It shimmers, just like a frosty morning. I finished up by using a loopy brad and a little ribbon.

Sharing a Christmas card

This is a card I whipped together last night. I bought this set (Silhouette Nativity from TAC) a couple of months ago, and I just was not happy with anything I did with it. On Saturday I decided to try embossing it. Well, a little trip to the LSS to get Copper embossing powder was in store. I love looking (and buying) all the new pretty things. Anyhoo, so last night I get a couple of minutes, I knew I HAD to use the Amelia paper and cardstock from TAC. These papers are so beautiful, honestly I hated to cut them. I would have been happy enough to just frame them. LOL The strip of beautiful paper at the bottom of the card is on the inside, the front of the card has a torn edge to let the paper inside show through. The night sky stamp from the Silhouette Nativity set was inked with Pallette Burnt Umber and stamped twice across the middle. Two 1/2" card stock strips frame the double matted embossed image. I used the Burnt Umber ink pad to distress my edges. I finished off my matted image with Tan Scrapper's floss, and adhered it to the card with pop dots to give it an extra dimension. I have decided that I either need to place another TAC order (Oh, darn! *Chuckle*) or head to the Local Scrap book store to buy a darker color floss. I can only imagine how that would really stand out against the Ivory paper.
November is a continuation of DOUBLE Hostess benefits!! What does that mean, it means lots of good things coming your way. Host a FUNshop with $100 in merchandise sales and you get 2 Half priced items- your choice- from ANYTHING in the catalogue. YES, even the The Big Shot can be yours for half price. =) Merchandise purchases of as little as $30 gets you two free stamps from the Gift with Purchase stamps on page 5.

Halloween Card

If you know me very well, then you know that I am not into Halloween. I can honestly say that it is my least liked holiday. I guess I just don't "get it". LOL

Well, I joined a swap for Halloween cards. I am glad that I did. I got back some amazing cards. And I also bought what I think is the cutest Halloween stamp set. The set is called you'reatreat from TAC. Sadly enough, it will be retiring at the end of the year.

Here is my swap card. I was going for a treat bag look- do you think I pulled it off?LOL

The paper used is Simply Spooky also from TAC- and also retiring at the end of the year. I used Prismacolor pencils and Noir ink.

I will be posting the retiring list from The Angel Company this week. There are some very nice stamps retiring this year.

Hello

It is just me and the kiddos this week, HB is out of town. I can honestly say I have a lot of respect for single moms. My kids have been good this week, well, as good as a 1 year old and 3 year old can be. LOL

This is a card I made to send to the ladies that came to my sister's FUNshop. I used Sarah's October card challenge on Paper Wings. Don't you love the layout? It has so much potential. I am gonna have to play around with this one some more. =)

Well, I am off to finish up some swaps. (Which reminds me, I got back some Halloween ones. I will share later.)

Pumpkins

Here is a couple of samples using Pumpkins from The Angel Company. I have an 8x8 layout. I can't wait to get a pumpkin patch picture of the kiddos to put in that one. I paper pieced the pumpkins. (I stamped the pumpkin out line onto my designer collection paper and cut them out. I then placed them on my lay out where I had stamped the same image with the noir ink.)

Here are a couple of 3x3 gift cards using the same stamp set and papers. I only used the face stamps on these to make cute little ghosts. One of these cards would be a very sweet addition to a basket full of goodies for your favorite goblin this Halloween.

FUNshop layout

FUNshop Saturday was my first FUNshop. A big "Thank you" to my sister for hosting. {Hello Bob.} I had such a great time. I had planned on doing something for each of the seasons. I kinda over did my designs for my time. We did complete 3 projects, and I promised to bring the other one back next time. Here is my "Summer" project-
It is an 8x8 Layout using The Angel Company's Oopsie Daisy stamp set. I used the Cardstock stack (brights), Prismacolor pencils, blender pencil, the silver eyelets were set with the Crop-A-Dile. It is hard to see, but the middle image is punched leaving a small "frame"and then the center is raised with pop dots. The picture was taken at Dollywood in June. Brother had just finished off a large Icee all by himself (without getting brain freeze!!) and Sister was catching up on here beauty rest

Color me PINK for October

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so I have gone pink.

Early Detection: Do You Know The Facts?
Each year, 182,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and 43,300 die. One woman in eight either has or will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. In addition, 1,600 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 400 will die this year.
If detected early, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer exceeds 95%. Mammograms are among the best early detection methods, yet 13 million U.S. women 40 years of age or older have never had a mammogram.
The National Cancer Institute and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommend that women in their forties and older have mammograms every one to two years. A complete early detection plan also includes regular clinical breast examinations by a trained medical professional. Monthly breast self-exams are suggested in addition. (This info was taken from the Breast Cancer web site.)

Be sure to check out the Breast Cancer site

Give Thanks

What can I say, I *heart* this turkey!!!

By now you know he is from the givethanks TAC stamp set. Colored with Prismacolor pencils and a blender pencil. I added 2 eyelets and jute to finish the sentiment. Card stock is Bazzill and background was "smooshed" with plastic wrap and Lautrec spot.

Until later~

More samples

Another Card kit sample. I think this one would make a great post card. I used the Give Thanks stamp set and the Mono pack of Yellow Oranges from Bazzill from The Angel Company. The corner punch is a new one I found over the weekend. And the ribbon was from a group buy I was in.

On both images I colored them using the Odorless Mineral Spirits method, with the Prismacolor pencils.

So, you don't make cards? Well, I have an 8x8 scrap book layout to share also. (And IRL the bottom is not crooked! LOL Why does my scanner sometimes make things look cock-eyed?LOL) I used the same stamps and papers, I added the Lautrec spots and Tombow markers this time- also from TAC. The tag I made using the MM metal rim and crimped with my Quickutz. The Bible verse completed this lay out that would be perfect for your fall or Thanksgiving pictures. (How cool would it be to use this lay out for a favorite Holiday recipe?!!?)

Finally, some cards to share!

I finally have some cards to share. I fell in love with this turkey the very first time I looked through The Angel Company catalogue. I knew I would be giving this little guy a loving home. I will be the first to admit that in real life the turkey is probably the ugliest animal I have ever seen. I remember taking Hunter to a petting zoo last year and he was terrified (kicking and screaming scared) of a huge, ugly turkey. I took him to pet the goats and he kept looking over his shoulder for that turkey. LOL Well, I don't think he would be the least bit frightened by this gobbler all decked out in his little Pilgrim hat.

The next card is a Gate fold card, my very first time making one of these. It was so easy, I have to ask myself why I haven't done one before now. The image is attached to only one side so that you can open it in the middle.
The Give thanks stamp set from TAC was used on both cards. I used the Yellow Oranges Mono pack of card stock. Both images were colored with Prismacolor pencils and Odorless Mineral Spirits (OMS). I used my computer to print Psalm 100:4 for the inside. I am putting together a Card Kit for October featuring this stamp set.

3x3 Card tote

Here is a little tote to hold those cute little 3x3 cards or tags. It was very easy to make, and I think it is just adorable. The stamp is Oopsie Daisy -a TAC set. I also used Matchmakers card stock, black card stock, Southwest corner punch, and Prismacolor Pencils from The Angel Company. I used grosgrain ribbon for the little handles.
I think I need to make a couple of these for hostess gifts.

I also want to remind you about the Remember September Special running through the end of the month.

Tuesday, September 18, 2007

I have been busy the last few days working on my swaps. I finished one for October Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is very pretty, once everyone gets this one I will post pictures. (I would hate to ruin any one's surprise.)
My Halloween swap is well under way. I tried something completely different with this one. It still needs a little tweaking, but I am excited to get this one sent out. I am really getting into this one- and I don't even like Halloween!! How funny is that?
Then I have a Christmas one- I have no idea what I am doing for this one yet!! Hopefully an idea will "just come to me!" LOL
I hope to have some pictures and ideas to share with you later. Tonight is momma's work night, I'll see what I can share with you.

*If you are reading this and have a blog of your own, please leave a comment and your addy so I can visit you!*

I'm still here

This is just a short note to let you know I am still here. I haven't been able to stamp for a couple of days. But I have been very busy- and now Hunter is completely potty trained. Can you believe he did it in a day and a half? He is going potty all by himself, as if he has always done it that way. It is funny, he goes in the bathroom and locks the door (I think to keep sister out.) I hear him in there and when he is done he says "Shake, shake, shake!" That child is too funny.

I am amazed at how fast TAC ships their orders out. I placed my order on Tuesday. Thursday was delivery day- all the way from Kansas! It is always fun to unpack the box and see all the goodies.

I just had to jump right in and make a non-traditional Christmas card.

I used a stamp set called Flamingo Christmas, and the sentiment is Holiday Liners. Image was stamped with Noir ink and colored with Prismacolor pencils. I matted it on black card stock, and then two layers of TAC's Matchmaker card stock. So, what do you think?

We are off today to celebrate Hunter's 3rd birthday!!! I hope you all have a great weekend.

September SOTM

I want to share the September SOTM with you.

I will have more info to post later. I am working on "Color me cards" to sell. This is a project geared towards little ones.

Also be watching for my September Card kit.

I am expecting a delivery later this week, I will share more with you once that comes in.

Also, I am working on organizing my "studio". HB got one of those Napa Cassette holders for me to use to store my ink pads. It came today and I can hardly wait to get all of my ink in there. I am still working on storage for my punches. I am sure I will come up with something- soon I hope!! LOL
